I’ve had the privilege of acting as lead UX Designer across multiple large-scale technology projects, including the Children’s patient-facing mobile application, sprint planning/workload management dashboards for leadership, behavioral-mental health inventory testing, quality of care testing, integration of system platforms including Epic Healthcare software and proprietary and third-party solutions. Leading user research efforts for projects across multiple disciplines and departments. Working closely with IT, executive leadership, medical providers, and informaticists to give design direction and build integrated design systems for CHOA’s technology solutions. Acted as subject matter expert for consulting on projects in other departments, as well as physical logistics and volunteering. Created a Human-Centered Design course for managers throughout CHOA to empower their design and development process. Created user research plan framework with healthcare providers and informaticists from Emory and other pediatric hospital systems. Work on internal sites and surveys using SharePoint and REDCap.
Still including additional content for my time here (including de-branded prototype examples for various projects), but for now some screenshots and blurbs to give you a sense of my work with Children’s.

- Data Analytics Dashboards
- User Research for Behavioral Mental Health Systems Integration
Children’s Patient-Facing App Redesign
End-to-end redesign of application in anticipation of the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital, providing better experiences for patients and their families as CHOA enters a new phase of its history!
The team determined user needs based on usage data from previous iterations of the Patient App, and incorporated these in the requirements gathering and initial design work for the new application.
I worked together with Marketing and Product Teams to both create a component library and the visual design language for use in the application redesign, as well as feed into the UX and branding standards for Children’s future. These designs were implemented to work as the design requirements for the software engineering teams.
Data Analytics Dashboards
I worked with the Data Analytics Team to redesign the dashboards that manager and directors use to determine and analyze key metrics for areas such as clinical effectiveness and provider capacity management, from individual providers to entire departments and practices.
Dozens of user research interviews were conducted with users on every level of the data analytics organization to both determine workflow updates that would make their jobs easier, as well as ensuring navigation and reporting worked seamlessly across teams for clear lines of communication.
User Research for Behavioral Mental Health Systems Integration
We performed extensive interviews with users (patients, their families, and their healthcare providers) and stakeholders to optimize and understand user needs for the behavioral-mental health workflow for serving patients and ensuring clear and consistent communication between their providers. We used what we learned from these interviews to produce an behavioral-mental health inventory to help evaluate how cancer survivors were doing in tandem with their physical health progress. These also informed the full service design of the clinics where the patients receive their post-treatment regimen.
